A Nice reminder of 'Summertime' from FB" 10 '15

FaceBook just reminded me that I had posted this photo  two years ago today.  

These oil paintings were what remained from my featured artist exhibit, titled 'Summertime' which held at Charleston Artist Guild in 2013. Many of the paintings from that series sold at that exhibit. After the Charleston exhibit closed, I moved the remaining paintings to the Applewood Gallery.   This  was a pleasant reminder of how the series captured the sense of summertime playfulness of summer in the low country.

The community showed up in droves to support the event

In return the exhibiting artists brought out their finest, abstract or representational paintings, and photograghs.

SAG host the MB Chamber of Commerce 6 14

On Thursday, the Seacoast Artists Guild hosted  a reception for the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. Nearly 150 people came to the reception  which was held  in our gallery at The Market Common.

Bruce and I had a great time,  There was lots of good music   food ,and friends

and ,of  course,  lots of good artwork.

CAG First Friday Artwalk 3 '14

The Charleston Artist Guild Gallery is all decked out with new artwork. If you haven't made it down there yet, don't forget,  today is Charleston's  Friday is the Art Walk from 5-8pm, so make the CAG Gallery your first stop.  I will be there to greet you..

Boats on Display at SAG Gallery 3 ' 14

 Like everyone else I know, I am tired of winter.  When I was offered some prime window space at the SAG gallery,  I decided to display some paintings of boats this month.  Hopefully  everyone who sees them will be reminded that warmer weather will soon be  here.

All week long we've been watching the nationally, and internationally known artist members of PAP-SE painting in on the streets  and surrounding marshes of  Charleston.

 

   This evening we got to see three  of the paintings produced by each of the artists at  the

Wet Paint Show Opening - Nov. 8 

While I had enjoyed watching the  artist's work in progress,  it was even better to get to talk with them without fear of interrupting their  concentration,

 and to see their beautiful artwork finished and framed.

 Their work will continue to be on display  until Nov 16th 

  at three adjacent  Charleston galleries:

Good Day to visit Charleston

It looks like it is going to be great weather today, so stop by the Charleston Artists Gallery at 160 East Bay  to look at the art of 70+ local artists. Wonderful place! Amazing artists! Great atmosphere!!  Artist Cecelia Campbell will be on hand from 11 am until 6 pm to assist you.

Art is going up at SAG / Market Commons 4 '13

In preparation for the grand opening next weekend, Bruce helped me install my paintings on my wall at the Seacoast Artist Guild Gallery at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach. Thank you sweetie, you are so much better at hanging art than I am.

I spent most of the morning working on the larger of the two paintings,  This one looks close to finished to me.  I', going to sit on it a few days before I decide whether to sign off on it.

 I made some minor adjustment to the rock shapes and shading.

This is about as good as it is going to get.
Now I just need to name it and sign it.

CAG Wall Updated 1'13

It's  been too cold for out of door activities , so I decided to  drive to refresh my wall  at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery with some bird paintings before the Wildlife convention opens next month.  ( Just wish I'd snapped the reference photo AFTER I straighten the paintings and took the ID labels off  SIGH!).

Just being in the gallery gives me a morale boost.  It is so nice to hang out with people who like art. 

CAG Featured Artist: Skip Runge 1 '13

We had the pleasure of attending the Charleston Artists Gallery Opening Reception for  Skip Runge .   Skip's photography exhibit "Mixed Images"  will continue through the  entire the Month of January  at the CAG Gallery at 160 East Bay Street.  It was well worth the trip to take a look at Skip's work  along with that of the  70 + other artists in gallery.

Applewood Mini Canvas Sale Continues

The Seacoast Artists Guild  Children's Art Fundraiser  being held at Applewoods is going strong.Almost half of the paintings have sold,  but there are still many beautiful one of a kind works of art available.

Jane Woodward demos at Seacoast Artists Guild Nov Meeting

Jane Woodward

Jane Woodward is an award-winning area painter with combined oil and acrylic experience covering more than thirty years.  She exhibits at area galleries and teaches both privately and for CCU’s OLLI program.  At the  Seacoast Artists Guild November  4th  2012  general meeting, Jane talked  about and demonstrated techniques for painting sky and clouds.

 and how to develop different forms of clouds using different sizes of brushes and strokes.

Sunday, Sept 30th was change-out day at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery.  Here's my new paintings. They show off well against the neutral green wall.

Artisphere  is set up on the west end of Main Street
 in Greenville,SC

Every May, Greenville, SC hosts Artisphere, one of the best fine art and craft street fairs in the United States.

The main thoroughfare of the city is blocked off for artists and craftsmen from all over the United States to set up tents displaying their art.  I don't think I have ever seen so many different  artistic medias represented in one festival.

There are photographers, and painters, glass blowers, metal and wood sculptures, printers,  fiber artists,  furniture makers, jewelers , basket makers, ceramists, and  digital artists  displaying their unique artwork.

And the art scene doesn't stop at the display booths.... The festival includes  three days of of non stop free  local musician,vocalists, dancers,  symphony orchestras,and street performers,  and children's programs, not to mentions fine art exhibits  in the local museums, and hotels..

Seacoast Artist Guild Fall Show 12 '09

Bruce and I attended the Seacoast Artist Guild's Fall Show and Sale this evening.

It was held in the Art Works Gallery in the Litchfield Exchange Building

 The show was well attended by both artists and art lovers

( especially the refreshment table).

 

I must admit I was impressed with both the quality of the art and how well it was displayed.  This group really sets professional standards for its members

I am glad.  It's nice to see that my  local art community is thriving.
